Detroit Collaboration for a Dream Greenhouse

Building Character

In our latest project reveal, we created a cozy light-filled retreat inside a custom-built, greenhouse sanctuary beneath the trees. A space our client could come home to, spend time in, and sit amongst the roses.

The Workbench

A focal point of the space is a tailor-made workbench turned potting station. We imagined our client cutting garden blooms here–creating arrangements for all of her close family and friends.

We meticulously sourced a perfect 100-year old, rustic bench rich in character and charm. But it wasn’t quite ready for the space–we knew we needed to add some magic with a little cooperation.

Inside the Process

Enter Woodward Throwbacks!

A sustainable furniture refabricator and reclaimed wood factory that gives new life to salvaged and recycled materials from around Detroit.

A match made in Detroit design heaven.

Collaboration is Key

We strategically designed a fresh, new concept for the antique piece so that it could be both beautiful and functional.

Together, we gave the workbench a second life by adding new plumbing with a gorgeous cast iron sink, and custom fabricated shelving that houses new electrical for soft overhead task lighting.

Bringing it Together

We finished the space with hints of whimsy–colored glass vases in peach and teal, and unique pottery for extra charm.

Now, the potting station is somewhere our client can linger and spend time with the roses that she loves so dearly.
