From Vision to Reality: A Q&A With Sam Schmuck on The Rebrand of Revived Living

Feb 20, 2025 | Commercial, interview

At the core of every great transformation is a clear vision—and the courage to bring that vision to life. For Sam, a stress management coach and owner of Revived Living, that vision was to rebrand her business and design a space that truly reflected her business’ values and mission. The rebranding process not only helped her refine the identity of Revived Living but also gave her the opportunity to ensure that the physical space aligned seamlessly with the energy and purpose of her work.

A highlight of this journey was the creation of the VIBE Room (Visceral Integration, Belief Expansion), a purpose-driven space designed to foster healing and personal growth. From the colors to the layout and each detail in between, every element of the room was intentionally curated to support Sam’s mission of empowering women to find balance, resilience, and self-discovery in their own lives.

To reflect on this incredible project, we sat down with Sam to chat about her experience working with Concetti for the rebrand and redesign of Revived Living and its VIBE Room.

Concetti: Hi Sam, your space came out so beautifully.  Looking back at our process, what surprised you the most when working with Concetti as an interior design strategy studio for your brand?

Sam: I've had the pleasure of working with Concetti for the last 5 years as a client of mine and have gotten to know them and their process well. So it was less of a surprise, but so fun to get to experience it rather than hearing them talk about it. One of their values is truly seeing and hearing their clients and creating a space (and now brand) that is authentically them. They took the time to listen and ask thoughtful questions to fully understand me, the brand, and my vision for where it's going. When they started to show me how that could translate into graphic elements and such I felt SO seen in my new branding!

Concetti: You got to know our process well while working with us. What aspects of our three-phase, human-centric approach did you find most beneficial?

Sam: The collaborative nature of the process was incredibly valuable! Phase 1 really helped me create clarity and brought my brand to life in ways I hadn’t imagined. I'm currently working with them in Phase 2 of the brand identity process and so grateful for their help crafting each of the assets for social media and building out what pages of the website can look like.

Concetti: Were there any particular design or business challenges that we helped you overcome?

Sam: Yes! I struggled with how to visually represent the transformation I create for my clients in a way that connected with them and drew them in prior to reading what I do. I also didn't know how to renovate my space to serve the multiple functions of how I work with clients virtually and in-person. Concetti helped me bridge that gap by designing a space that not only supports my business operations but also enhances my client experience—whether they’re meeting with me virtually or in-person.

Concetti: Is there anything you wish you knew before working with Concetti on your branding and built environment?

Sam: No! I am so grateful for the experience and support bringing Revived Living back to life! It was so cool how thought-provoking this process was and the amount of clarity and cohesion it created across my entire business.

Concetti: Do you feel like the brand and built environment align more cohesively now?

Sam: So before working with Concetti I feel like you can look back at my brand, socials, and website and see the different stages of Sam and my business. But working with Concetti allowed me to first lock down the space, solidify the vision, and establish the right feel. From there going right into brand work, I was able to make a seamless connection between all facets of my business. Now I'm so excited to put it out there. Before I was playing shy and being small because although I knew what I wanted to put out there, I couldn't fully capture it on my own.

Concetti : Lastly, if you could share one piece of advice to fellow business owners when thinking about their brand experience, what would it be?

Sam: What is the story you want to tell? Your brand is so much more than a logo or color palette—it’s how people feel when they interact with your business virtually and in-person. Be intentional about what you want a client to feel when interacting with your brand, whether they are diving deep into the copy or scrolling quickly on social media. Every touchpoint, from your physical space to your digital space, has the opportunity to connect and tell a story to attract your ideal client.

If you’re a business owner, we hope Sam’s experience inspires you to take the plunge with the support of a great branding and design team. Reach out to Concetti to start your journey toward a brand that truly reflects your business.

LET’S GET STARTED!

What does “dopamine décor” mean to you?

Rachel: It’s the pieces that make you happy when you see them. An instant smile or giggle. For me, it’s unexpected whimsy and humor. In my house, I’ve got a brass fox head wearing sunglasses and a monkey-head planter with a gold tooth. They never get old. It’s about surrounding yourself shamelessly with things that make you happy. I can’t wait to bring pieces like this into my new home, Divinely Detroit, the historic church located in Indian Village.

How did you land on the name Moxie?

Rachel: At Concetti, our brand persona is “genuine moxie” which means kind, calm, loving, but bold in who you are. We’re always building our clients up to take that bold, courageous step. Moxie is the bold part. The “I don’t need permission” part. When you choose dopamine décor, you’re choosing to surround yourself with pieces others might not understand, but you love.

Who is Moxie for?

Rachel: It’s for anyone who’s been told they’re too much, too loud, too bold. It’s for the person who wants that little empowering piece in their day whether that’s a trucker hat, a beautiful candle, or funky lamp. It’s for people who want to surround themselves with pieces lovingly crafted and curated to give you a little dose of empowerment.

How do you stay creatively energized when building something from scratch?

Rachel: I’ve never subscribed to the idea that your life should follow a certain timeline. Since I was 16, I knew I wanted to be an interior designer. That’s 23 years of being dedicated to one decision, and it still feels good and in alignment.
When I create something new, it’s like a spark goes off. I listen to that inner knowing. I tell my team, “One step in front of the other.” It might be clumsy, but you’ve got to start moving.

What design rule do you love to break?

Rachel: Any of them. If I want to turn my dining room into a recording studio or a kids’ playroom, then I will, and you should feel empowered to, as well. The only rules worth following are the ones that make you feel good in your own space.

What advice would you give to creatives who feel “too much” for the design world?

Rachel: There’s no such thing. What you’ve been told is “too much” is your superpower. That’s what makes you different and magnetic. Stand in your power. Make decisions from alignment, not shame or guilt. Be unapologetically you because that’s when you really shine.

Favorite dopamine décor brands or artists?

Rachel: Regina Andrew (Detroit-based and stunning), Seletti (monkeys holding lightbulbs, peacock lamps), Noir (the hand chair!), Bold Monkey, Zoe Bios (customizable art), and Eric & Eloise (quirky brass animal heads). I make them weird with purple lights in my basement because it makes me laugh every time.

What do you hope people feel when they bring home a Moxie piece?

Rachel: I want them to feel excited and happy. I want unboxing to be an experience that exceeds expectations whether it’s something you wear and feel empowered in or something in your home or business that gives you that hit of joy every time you pass it.

What does success look like for Moxie?

Rachel: Moxie is more than numbers, it’s a movement. It’s about inclusivity, empowerment, and telling people they’re perfect exactly as they are.

One mindset shift that changed everything for you as a founder?

Rachel: Realizing that everything I need is already within me. I can surround myself with mentors and partners, but at the end of the day, I’m the only one living my truth.

Advice for creatives carving their own path?

Rachel: Persistence wins. Your journey is your own. Do the things that light you up and keep going. Pause to reflect on what’s working, what’s draining you, and what you can add back in to make you excited again. There’s no one else like you so own it.
