Our client has had an admiration for roses ever since a beautiful connection to the flower and her beloved mother. She desired a space that she could have rose-blooms year round – a tall task in the woods of Oakland County that experiences the full-effect of Michigan winters. The construction of this custom greenhouse has given our client her own private whimsical retreat where she can surround herself with the blooms while appreciating the beauty of the surrounding woods.
Goal
Our clients made it clear they were seeking a year-round place of retreat on their vast wooded estate in Oakland County. From this inspiration (and their love of nature) a whimsical greenhouse oasis was born. With the help of Concetti, she was able to find a truly unique space to honor her personal story and inner passions.
solution
To make this dream into reality, Concetti’s team developed 3D rendering for the new, modern greenhouse, and utilized family heirlooms for a lived-in, authentic feel. The space is complemented with weathered whitewash barn wood and a stone path that leads from the client’s master bedroom to feel like a natural extension of her residence.
The original concept came from the idea that this modern glass greenhouse would be built around an old shed on the property. The “shed” turned powder room would of course be new construction, but clever materiality would make it appear as though it was a treasure from many years before.
She has truly felt at home doing what she loves in her new greenhouse retreat, and the greenhouse is a place that our client can call her very own.
