The Detroit entrepreneurial community’s goals and visions are larger than life. To achieve those dreams, it’s imperative they have a safe space that allows them to engage each other, network, and cultivate successful businesses.

“Build Institute is an idea activator, and small business accelerator focused on equity, inclusion, diversity, and access to opportunity. Essentially, it’s the place where people with an idea can go to explore and nurture that idea. To discover how they can bring it to the next level.”

– Build Institute

Located near the former site of the Tigers stadium and launched in 2012, Build Institute fulfilled that need by providing entrepreneurship courses, access to low-interest capital, community building events, and more. However, as the needs of aspiring entrepreneurs evolved, they realized coworking spaces, presentation equipment, corporate events, and a dedicated staff headquarters could unlock new opportunities if offered within their space.

To ensure their 3,500 SF space supported staff and client needs, Build Institute enlisted our talents for the redesign. As a graduate of Build Institute’s entrepreneur courses, Concetti CEO & Principal Designer Rachel Nelson was eager to give back to the organization that helped mold her into the entrepreneur she is today.

Thanks to Build Institute’s clear communication and vision and our 3-step process, we worked together to co-create a space representative of Detroit’s bright, energetic, and creative entrepreneurial community.

In addition to unique features clients already knew and loved, like entrepreneur-owned and operated pop-ups, Build Institute now offers access to coworking areas, conference rooms, private rooms, high-speed internet, printing services, a business address, and more. Plus, aesthetic details – like the Tiger Stadium print and custom wallpaper featuring Build’s brand color from Detroit Wallpaper Co. – honor the city’s past and present.

We’re excited to see how the space will serve the next generation of Detroit entrepreneurs and in turn, see the amazing things they’ll cultivate within our community.

Making News

“Teal accent walls, modern white and green chairs, and orange pillows help create a vibrant, modern atmosphere. “We worked with Concetti Studio and Rachel Nelson , a Build Institute grad, to design the space. The thought behind the space was to be flexible, bright, welcoming, and reflect the entrepreneurial spirit,”

“Working with Concetti, a Build Institute grad has been a great experience. During each phase of our project, Concetti was able to understand our diverse needs and ideas, thus creating designs and a project plan that is cost effective and functional for our headquarters. Rachel and her team are flexible, fun and have all of the expertise and professionalism necessary for making our space phenomenal.  A project of this size and scope can be intimidating, however the Concetti experience made us comfortable, excited and ready for every step.  This is the perfect company for matching our brand with the space.”
