The homeowners of this gorgeous historic home in Royal Oak reached out to us with the intention of investing in their space for entertaining, hosting friends, and creating memories around the holidays. Because the living room is so large, the homeowners felt it was underused. They wanted to reimagine the living and dining room as places to connect with loved ones, all while staying true to their refined taste.

The Chinoiserie mural of Japanese cherry blossoms subtly ties to the fabric on the chairs and the lighting fixtures, expressing the owner’s interest in the unique style in art history where the French were inspired by the Chinese.

Their home has stunning original features including a bay window, original herringbone wood floors, a dome ceiling in the dining room, and plaster ceilings in the living room.

We honored these incredible architectural features while increasing the functionality of the space – two cozy chairs frame the fireplace as the perfect spot to read and drink tea, or to catch up with a friend.
