LOCATION
Oakland County, MI
When two successful business owners found themselves seeking a year-round place of retreat on their vast wooded estate in Oakland County, Concetti knew it would be important to bring out the stunning existing architectural details by complementing and enhancing the existing features.
Goal
In this gorgeous home nestled in the woods, the homeowners wanted to create a space for loved ones to gather as well as appreciate the beauty of the outdoors and the beauty of what was created inside.
Solution
The transformation of the space focused on facilitating a deep connection and appreciation of nature. The previous home, although architecturally stunning, left the homeowners feeling cold and disconnected from the beauty of the woods surrounding them beyond the floor to ceiling windows.
Thoughtful materiality decisions were made in upholstery, rugs, wallpaper, and window treatment to enhance the tones of the gorgeous stone and wood details of the existing space while infusing bold pops of blues and orange.
Subtle Influences from the nature surrounding the home can be seen in the oversized ceramic tile mural in the master bath, the area rug with a pattern reminiscent of bark in the master bedroom, and lighting that mimics falling leaves or bundles of twigs.
