“Slow decorating” may be a new name, but the philosophy isn’t new, adds Rachel Nelson, CEO & principal designer for Detroit’s Concetti. “It’s the repackaging of an old idea,” she explains. “There have long been two schools of thought – either buy investment pieces that you’d like to live with for a long time (and possibly pass on) or quick fix trend following.” She, like many interior designers, is a proponent of investing in key pieces and keeping them.
